# Starboard

> Automatically reposting highly-reacted messages to a dedicated highlight channel.

The starboard collects messages that receive enough reactions and reposts them to a dedicated channel. It is a community-driven curation tool - members vote with reactions and the most popular content surfaces automatically.

## How it works

When a message receives a reaction count at or above your configured threshold, the bot copies it to the starboard channel. The reposted message shows the original author, the original channel, a link back to the original, and the current reaction count.

If the reaction count drops below the threshold (because members remove their reactions), the bot either removes the starboard entry or keeps it based on your configuration.

## Setup

Navigate to [**Starboard**](https://bot.bifrost.gg/go/starboard) in the dashboard and configure:

| Setting | Description |
| - | - |
| **Channel** | The channel where starred messages are reposted |
| **Reaction emoji** | Which reaction triggers the starboard (default: star emoji) |
| **Threshold** | Minimum number of reactions required |
| **Self-star** | Whether the original author's own reaction counts |
| **Bot messages** | Whether bot messages can be starred |
| **NSFW channels** | Whether messages from NSFW-marked channels are included |

## Moderation queue

The starboard has an optional moderation queue. When enabled, messages are not posted to the starboard immediately upon reaching the threshold. Instead, they enter a pending queue on the [**Starboard**](https://bot.bifrost.gg/go/starboard) page where staff can approve or reject them before they appear.

Navigate to [**Starboard**](https://bot.bifrost.gg/go/starboard) in the dashboard and enable **Require moderation approval**. Pending entries appear in the **Moderation Queue** on the same page.

Staff with the `starboard.moderate` permission can approve or reject pending entries. Approved entries are posted; rejected entries are discarded.

## Editing the threshold after setup

Raising the threshold after setup does not remove already-posted starboard entries that were added under the old threshold. Lowering it does not retroactively add old messages. The threshold only applies to reactions received from the moment it changes.

## Required permissions

The starboard is fully automatic and requires no member permissions. Configuration is admin-only:

| Action | Permission key |
| - | - |
| Viewing configuration | `starboard.view_config` |
| Changing configuration | `starboard.manage_config` |
| Moderating the approval queue | `starboard.moderate` |
