# Status and Info Commands

> Checking bot latency, uptime, and viewing information about a Discord user.

These general-purpose commands give members and administrators basic operational information about the bot and Discord users.

## Checking bot latency

```
/ping
```

Measures the current round-trip latency between the bot and Discord's API. The response shows:

* **API latency** - time for the bot to receive an event from Discord
* **Gateway latency** - WebSocket heartbeat round-trip
* **Database latency** - time to complete a simple database query

This command is useful for verifying that the bot is responsive and identifying whether slowness is coming from the bot, Discord's API, or the database.

## Checking bot uptime

```
/uptime
```

Displays how long the bot has been running since its last restart. Shows a human-readable duration (e.g. "3 days, 14 hours, 22 minutes") and the exact date and time the bot started.

## Viewing user information

```
/userinfo [user]
```

Displays a profile card for the specified member (or your own profile if no user is specified). The card shows:

| Field | Description |
| - | - |
| **Username** | Discord username and display name |
| **User ID** | Discord snowflake ID |
| **Account created** | When the Discord account was registered |
| **Joined server** | When the member joined this server |
| **Roles** | All roles the member currently holds |
| **Nickname** | Server-specific nickname if set |
| **Bot** | Whether the account is a bot |

`/userinfo` works on any visible member, including bots. You can look up members who have left the server by providing their user ID.

## Required permissions

These commands are available to all members by default:

| Command | Permission key |
| - | - |
| `/ping`, `/uptime`, `/userinfo` | `ping.use` (default allow) |
