Heimdall provides three channel-level enforcement tools: channel locks, channel bans, and leave-ban tracking. These work alongside server-wide bans to handle situations where a full server ban is not warranted but access to specific channels or re-entry to the server needs to be controlled.

Locking and unlocking channels

Locking a channel prevents members without explicit override roles from sending messages. The channel remains visible but read-only for affected members. When locked, a system message is optionally posted in the channel to inform members. When unlocked, another message indicates that the channel is open again. Locked channels are tracked in the dashboard under , where staff can see all currently locked channels and unlock them from the interface.

Channel bans

Bans a specific member from one channel, removing their ability to read or write in it. This is a targeted tool - the member remains in the server and can access all other channels normally. Channel bans work by modifying the channel’s permission overwrites. When a duration expires, the overwrite is automatically removed. You can view and manage active channel bans in the dashboard under .

Leave-bans

Leave-bans stop a member dodging a warning or mute by leaving and rejoining. When they are enabled, any member who leaves the server is banned automatically for the duration you set, unless they hold an immune role. It applies to every leave, not only to members with a recent infraction, so set immune roles before turning it on.

Configuring leave-bans

Navigate to and turn on Enable Ban on Leave. Configure:
  • Default Ban Duration - how long the automatic ban lasts, or permanent
  • Ban Reason - the reason recorded on the ban
  • Immune Roles - members with any of these roles are never leave-banned. Bots are always skipped
Leave-bans are logged as infractions so the member’s record reflects the reason for the ban.
