General
The tab controls top-level dashboard behaviour.Hide denied features
When enabled, dashboard sections that the current user does not have permission to access are hidden from the sidebar entirely rather than shown greyed out. This keeps the sidebar clean for staff members who only need access to specific areas. Administrators always see the full sidebar regardless of this setting.Setup wizard
The setup wizard walks you through the initial configuration of Heimdall’s core features. If you need to revisit it - for example when enabling a new set of plugins - click Re-run Setup Wizard to start it again from the beginning. This does not reset any existing configuration; it simply guides you through each step again.Commands
The tab lets you configure how Heimdall’s slash commands appear and behave in your server. Each command can be individually:- Enabled or disabled - disabled commands are removed from Discord’s command list for your server
- Renamed - give a command a custom name that fits your server’s conventions (e.g. rename
/suggestto/feedback) - Description overridden - change the description shown in Discord’s autocomplete
Role Permissions
The tab is the primary place for configuring which Discord roles have access to which Heimdall features. See Permissions for a full explanation of how the system works. Select a role from the dropdown to view and edit its permission overrides. Each permission key displays its current state - Allow, Deny, or Default - using a three-position toggle.User Permissions
The tab lets you apply per-user overrides on top of role-based permissions. A user-level override takes priority over any role the member holds, making it useful for granting access to a specific person without changing their roles, or for blocking one individual from a feature their roles would otherwise allow. Select a user by searching their Discord username or ID, then configure overrides the same way as role permissions.Server Template
The tab lets you export your server’s complete Heimdall configuration as a JSON file and import it into another server.Exporting
Click Export Configuration to download a JSON file containing every plugin’s settings, permission overrides, automod rules, categories, and other configuration stored by Heimdall for your server.Importing
Click Import Configuration and upload a previously exported JSON file. You can choose to import all sections or select specific plugins to import. Existing configuration for the selected plugins is overwritten.File Storage
The tab connects Heimdall to an external storage provider for attachments. By default, files attached to ticket and modmail conversations are stored via Discord’s own CDN. External storage lets you retain those files after Discord deletes them (typically after a year) and removes file size limitations.Storage providers
Storage modes
- Oversized only - only files that exceed Discord’s upload limit are sent to external storage; smaller files continue using Discord’s CDN.
- All files - all attachments are routed through external storage regardless of size.
Overflow provider
You can configure a secondary overflow provider. Files exceeding a configured byte threshold are automatically routed to the overflow provider instead of the primary one. This is useful when your primary provider has storage quotas and you want to keep large files elsewhere. Discord, for example, only lets you upload files up to 8mb in size. A common use case we see is to use a Discord Channel as a primary provider then configure something else, like S3, as a fallback.Setup
Select your provider, enter the required credentials (API key, bucket name, region, endpoint as applicable), then click Save. The dashboard provides a guided setup doc specific to each provider accessible from the Setup Guide link next to the provider selector.Credentials are encrypted at rest and are never exposed in the dashboard after being saved. To update a credential, paste a new value and save.
Audit Log
The tab records actions taken in the Heimdall dashboard - which staff member changed a configuration, created or deleted a category, modified a permission, and so on. This is separate from Discord’s server audit log. Each entry shows:
The audit log is read-only and cannot be cleared. Entries are retained for a rolling 90-day window.
